현재 제약 산업은 연구개발 생산성에 대한 유례없는 도전에 직면하고 있습니다. 간단하게 말하면, 연구개발 생산성의 획기적인 증가 없이는 오늘날의 제약산업은 그동안 성공을 보여 주었던 품목의 특허만료로 인한 손실을 대체 할 수 있는 충분한 혁신제품을 만들 수가 없습니다. 따라서 언제, 어떻게, 얼마만큼 연구생산성을 증가 시킬 수 있는지가 매우 중요한 문제입니다. 이번 세미나에서는 연구개발 생산성을 증가시키기 위한 최근 신약개발 전략에 대하여 논의 할 것입니다.

The pharmaceutical industry is facing unprecedented challenges to its R&D productivity. Simply stated, without a dramatic increase in R&D productivity, today's pharmaceutical industry can not sustain sufficient innovation to replace the loss of revenues arising from patent expiration of its blockbuster products. So, the key questions are: when, how and by how much can the R&D productivity be improved? Here, I will discuss the recent strategies in drug discovery and development to address the long-standing challenges to improving the R&D productivity.
