ABOUT NEBS

As the 26th president of New England Bioscience Society Inc. (NEBS), this is great honor and pleasure to welcome you to NEBS.

NEBS is comprised of Korean and Korean-American scientists, engineers and clinicians working in diverse areas of biological and biomedical sciences at universities, institutes, hospitals, and industries in the United States especially in the Boston and New England area

Since its first meeting in 1984, NEBS has been dedicated to scientific communication and social networking among the members and aid exchange of scientists between Korea and United States.

NEBS has grown to cooperate and support the Korean bioscientist organizations in Harvard, MIT-BBRI, Brandeis, Yale and stem cell scientists in the Boston area.

During its 25 years of history, more than two thousands of outstanding scientists and clinicians have actively participated in NEBS. To date, over 500 Korean scientists from almost 30 different universities, institutes and companies around New England area actively participate in our meetings

안녕하십니까.

뉴잉글랜드 생명과학협회 (New England Bioscience Society Inc.) 26대 회장 허양훈 입니다.

NEBS는 1984년 창설된 이래 보스턴을 비롯한 뉴잉글랜드 지역 (메사추세츠, 뉴햄프셔, 로드아일랜드, 버몬트, 메인, 코네티컷)의 대학, 연구소, 기업에 소속된 500여명의 한인 생명과학 및 생명의학자들로 구성되어 있으며, 미국 내 가장 대표적이며 활동적인 한인 생명과학자단체 입니다. 또한 미국 타 지역과 한국에서 많은 과학자들이 alumni 또는 on-line member로 NEBS 울타리 안에서 활동하고 있습니다

NEBS는 매월 1회 (마지막주 목요일)의 monthly meeting 및 매년 1회 (5월 초) annual conference를 개최하고 있으며, 국내 생명공학 관련 대학, 기업, 연구소 등과의 연계를 통해 공동연구 및 우수연구인력들의 국내 진출을 지원해오고 있습니다. 또한 미국내 지사를 두고 있는 한국 생명과학 관련 기업들의 성공적인 미국 시장 진출을 위해서도 상호 협력하고 있습니다.

또한 NEBS는 Harvard, MIT-BBRI, Brandeis, Yale의 한인 생명과학자 모임 및 보스턴 지역 한인 줄기세포 연구자들의 모임 등을 협력단체로 두고 있으며, 이들 단체의 활동이 원할하도록 다양한 지원을 하고있습니다. 지난 25년의 역사동안 NEBS에서 활동하신 2000 여명의 과학자들이 국내외 여러 분야에서 활동하고 계십니다. 특히 NEBS는 세계 bioscience의 흐름을 주도하는 뉴잉글랜드 지역의 최신 생명과학 관련 연구 정보 및 그 중심에서 왕성하게 연구하는 한인 연구 인력의 주요 source로서 한인 과학자들간의 교류에 크게 기여하고 있습니다.
